Made in London, circa 1770, signed Francis Upjohn, 46mm, case No.952, repoussé pair cased pocket watch, the pierced and chased repoussé with scrolls and a scene depicting Queen of Sheba presenting gifts to King Solomon. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, arcaded minute-track (typical features made for the Dutch market. Blued steel beetle and poker hands.
Gilt dust cover. full-plate, gilt, turned pillars, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance, pierced, chased and engraved cock, diamond endstone, silvered regulation dial, repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant. Movement and dust cover signed. The bell by Drury.

About Watchmaker
Francis Upjohn was a well-known clockmaker in London. He became a freeman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1781 and Liveryman from 1787 – 1793. He was based in Bridgewater Square, London and worked for his father James, another well-known clockmaker until 1773.
