Inventory Number: PW2303013LC

Made circa 1910, signed Patek Philippe & Co., 50mm, 18K gold open-face case, case No. 403449, movement No.162721, made for its American retailer Spaulding &Co. The gold cuvette engraved “Awarded Honourable Mention, Geneva Astronomical Observatory, Timing Contest 1917-1918”, adjusted by J. Golay Audemars.

White enamel dial with Roman numerals, blued-steel spade hands, and subsidiary seconds. With 23 jewels “extra" movement, lever escapement, Guillaume balance.

Very few Patek Philippe watches are designated “Extra”, the present watch is one of these rare pieces. The inscription "Extra" on the bridge of the movement refers to the very high finishing of all the parts of the movement and the use of the Guillaume balance with gold and platinum screws. The movement was made in 1910, and the timepiece was sold in 1918.
