19th Century Terrestrial Globe Calendar Clock

Made circa late 19th century in France, 68×30×24CM,ormolu and patinated bronze case with a globe made by Maison Delamarche and signed Globe adopté par le Conseil de l’Université Maison Delamarche Rue Serpente 25 Paris. A ‘four-glass’ style case with beveled glasses and reeded columns. Four-glass clocks started to enter the market and became popular circa the early mid-19th century, a prevalent type of French clock.
Bronze dial with Roman numerals, blued steel Breguet hands, subsidiary dial for the day of the week written in French at 6 o’clock. The revolving terrestrial globe is mounted on its axis above a mechanism geared to the clock’s going train. The clock and globe’s mechanisms are interactive, with the globe revolving every twenty-four hours against a fixed pointer, and the silvered ring below shows the day and months of the year.
Equipped with an 8-day duration French round movement, two trains, going barrels, anchor escapement, rack and snail strike on the bell, and strike on hours and half-hours. The reverse of movement stamped 'MADE IN FRANCE' with incised '5454' and '6'.
