(January 24, 2026—The Macau Timepiece Museum officially reopened)

     As the pendulum, long silent, begins to sway gently once more, the familiar ticking sound travels through time and settles softly. January 24, 2026—the Macau Timepiece Museum  officially reopens. Stripping away the clamor of commerce and remaining true to its cultural essence, this museum—which preserves time and embodies craftsmanship—exists neither for the sake of traffic nor for profit. Its sole purpose is to safeguard a horological heritage that is in danger of being forgotten in this fast-paced era, ensuring that a millennium of timekeeping civilization and a century of masterful craftsmanship endure through the ages and are passed down from generation to generation.

    Mr. Fang Rongyi, the museum director, stated: “The relaunch of the museum’s cultural salon not only carries forward Macao’s watchmaking heritage but also innovatively revitalizes the city’s unique watchmaking resources. Approximately 2,000 exhibits comprehensively showcase four centuries of watchmaking history, fully illustrating the evolution from clocks and pocket watches to wristwatches.” The museum will rotate exhibits on an irregular basis and host watch culture salons, dedicated to promoting Macao’s glorious watchmaking history and culture.

   This reopening represents a rebirth following a period of reflection, as well as a continuation of our original mission.  As  the  Macau Timepiece Museum reopens its doors, it remains steadfast in its founding principle: “It is better to share joy with others than to enjoy it alone.” Moving forward, we will continue to deepen our efforts in disseminating watch culture, refine exhibition content, host cultural salons, and popularize knowledge of traditional craftsmanship, so that the historical heritage, craftsmanship, and wisdom of time encapsulated within these small timepieces can become an integral part of everyday life.
